PFAS are often called “forever chemicals” because they persist in the environment and are difficult to break down. Across Australia, councils, mines, landfills and industrial sites are under increasing pressure to manage PFAS-contaminated water responsibly. Our system completely decentralises PFAS destruction. No contaminated waste.

PFAS are highly stable chemicals that do not behave like ordinary contaminants.

Many conventional approaches only transfer PFAS into another waste stream such as spent carbon, resin, brine or concentrate.

Site owners need treatment pathways that are understandable, scalable and suitable for real water matrices—not just ideal lab water.

AusAOP focuses on treatment pathways designed to reduce PFAS liability rather than simply shifting the problem elsewhere. Our approach can integrate concentration, conditioning, destruction and polishing into one engineered treatment train, tailored to the water quality, site constraints and project goals.
We do not pr
PFAS is first concentrated into a smaller stream so the destruction step can be more targeted and efficient.
The water is pre-treated to reduce competing contaminants that interfere with downstream PFAS destruction.
A specialised destruction stage is used to break PFAS molecules apart, so they are chemically destroyed rather than simply captured and moved somewhere else.
A final polishing stage may be added to target nutrients, heavy metals, or other contaminants to allow for potential re-use, recycling or discharge to the environment.

Custom treatment trains for fit-for-purpose reuse
Although PFAS destruction is a key focus, AusAOP also delivers broader water treatment solutions for complex industrial, municipal and environmental waters. Our capability includes Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) for the breakdown of persistent organics, Advanced Biological Processes (ABP) for enhanced biological treatment, and integrated systems for the removal of nutrients, selected inorganics and other challenging water quality drivers across a diverse range of sectors.
This enables AusAOP to develop practical, site-specific treatment trains for reuse, discharge and risk reduction—designed around real water matrices, operational constraints and project objectives rather than idealised laboratory conditions.
